After training for about one and a half months, last week our young players had an opportunity to test their skills. Both our under-10 years old and under-13 years old teams competed with Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) football teams in the games hosted by them. Those games were played at 9.00 am and 10.30 am respectively.
Under-13 teams played the opening match. Although there were quite an obvious differences in physical sizes between both team’s players, it’s good to mention that the game was equally played. It was just that we saw our player suddenly became nervous before entering the field because the opponents seemed too big for them. Luckily, the coaches did a very good job to convince them that size doesn’t matter. Follow what have been told and they should do well.
Both AISM’s goals were scored in the second half. Our young player did their best to defend but luck was not on our side. However they manage to ensured that were the only goals of the match and succeed.Â
Next, under-10 teams played the second match. Like the first AISM’s team, physical sizes was also the factor that determined how the match goes. It was obvious that AISM player were more skillful and easily outdone our young players. We lost the match 0-9.
Although we lost both matches, it was a good experience to the coaches and players. Now we clearly saw which areas need to be improve and given more focus in the future. As for the players, they get their first exposure of the real match which will gave them a new insight about what football is all about. It’s not the end of the world and we are going to have another matches next time. We’ll show the opponents what we capable of.
Thanks to AISM for hosting the matches. We hope that we can have it again next time. Perhaps, at our place 🙂
Million thanks also goes to the parents for their willingness to free their time and supported our teams. It would be a different atmosphere altogether if they were not there and eventually everybody had a really good time.Â
